Hi everyone,
I have taken a bit of a hiatus from collaborating for a while. Sometimes you have a journey in mind and you just can't find anyone to come along for the ride. I'm going in a different direction for now. I will be presenting a workshop at the ECCDC office in May. Hopefully this will lead to bigger things and the collaborations to begin again. I hope to see you there.
Well, sometimes life has different plans for you. A miss step can change your life drastically. It's time to slow down, take help from others and be grateful for who is in your life. The forest will have to wait.
Tonight we visited Greenbelt Academy. We met with the owners who gave us a tour of the centre. We sat down and discussed the trials and tribulations in starting a centre from scratch and some of the difficulties added because they are following a forest school philosophy. I would check out this video from when they were on CHCH morning live.

The next collaboration is up on EventBrite. We will be touring Greenbelt Academy and Early Learning Centre on November 14th at 6pm. They are both a childcare centre and a Forest School at the same location. It will be a great night.
We had our first meeting. We had 9 attendees. We went out to our camp where we were able to see the children's play space. I answered questions about the space and our program. During out walk to and from camp people were able to get to know each other a little. Back at the Childcare centre everyone introduce themselves and shared a little bit about their work environment. We were from very different environments and ages of children.
Some of the common inquiries were relating to :
-weather conditions
-tool use
-environmental impact
-portable classroom (my wagon and everything in it)
-resource lists
-an Indigenous focus
-grants for programs
Many of these inquiries will be answered in future workshops and collaborations. Keep posted for more details.
August 23/23
Today is the day our first collaboration was posted to Eventbrite and a few Facebook groups. I am really looking forward to meeting like minded educators. We can share ideas about bringing nature into your classrooms or bringing the classroom activities outside. Hopefully other nature based people will want to join me in sharing their story. If you are interested you could be a future location and tell your story.
I can't wait to meet you all.
See you soon.
